Despite the obstacles, many Canadian companies are successfully embedding AI in their operations and reaping the competitive benefits. What these companies have done include:
Quantifying the costs associated with both action and inaction to ensure decisions about capital allocation are informed by both the risks and the rewards of AI adoption.
Educate employees about the benefits of AI and teach them how to utilize the technology, both to advance their careers and to improve operational effectiveness.
Address the problem of ‘too many ideas, too little focus’ by pulling employees into the evaluation process, empowering them to drive solutions.
Invest in data governance, ensuring data is standardized, consolidated, and AI-compatible.
Formalize an ‘exploration budget’—a portion of annual AI spend reserved for open-ended data mining to ensure that hard-to-find opportunities are discovered. Embedding that mindset among employees turns every new dataset into a hunting ground for hidden efficiencies and growth opportunities.
These companies have courageously stepped forward because it understands and effectively articulates the benefits AI bring it is organization. This, despite the skepticism towards AI. It is estimated that less than one-in-four Canadian employees have received any AI training; it's no wonder that most Canadians haven’t engaged sufficiently with AI to demystify it. Broader AI Literacy will change this.
This is why the Government of Alberta, with support from the Federal Government, has selected Untapped Energy as the lead nonprofit organization to design and deliver an AI Literacy Program aimed directly for employers. A series of online and in-person sessions provide the necessary tools to help your organization:
• Build AI Fundamentals and Data Fluency
• Achieve Critical Thinking and Fact Checking skills
• To implement AI responsibly and ethically
• Effectively plan for the future of your organization's workforce & required AI competencies
All participants will be provided with a Strategic AI Adoption roadmap and complete an AI Organizational Skills maturity assessment, a key foundation for your organization to prepare for its future workforce and talent strategy.
Effective AI adoption and implementation is not an isolated effort. Being able to rely on trusted ecosystem partners is the key to a successful AI adoption in your organization.
